Input vs Output

I had gotten into a bad habit of scrolling social media before going to sleep (I know how terrible this is), and I started noticing that as I scrolled I was feeling more and more anxious. Almost like I was vibrating from taking in so many messages of uncertainty, worry, stress, frightening headlines.

Recognizing that effect, I’ve started reading my book at night instead (in all honestly, usually after scrolling for a few minutes … bad habits are hard to break), and I’ve found that reading inspirational or helpful material helps me to feel more calm and in control.

I’ve been listening to more podcasts than ever right now … while I’m getting ready in the morning, while I’m fixing my breakfast, when I take my walks to the mailbox and back a few times a day. Putting good stuff in is helping me to get more good stuff out.
